Pentatonix Interview With CEEK VR!
By admin / May 10, 2019 / Interviews

A cappella music isn’t known for being some of the best-selling in the music industry, but that’s what makes Pentatonix’s story so inspiring. They went through times when they were dropped from their label, running things entirely on their own, and now they’re one of the most successful acts in the world. The vocal group has landed No. 1 albums and won several Grammys now, and they seem to only grow in popularity with every passing album.

We had the opportunity to speak with Mitch Grassi from Pentatonix before their tour began, and he opened up about what the band still wants to do after so much success and his side project, which may be making a comeback sooner, rather than later.

Pentatonix’s rise as a group was incredibly fast. You've got number one albums, you're playing Madison Square Garden, not only do you have three Grammys, but you have a perfect record at the Grammys. Is there anything that you haven't done yet that you guys want to do?

Mitch Grassi: Hmm. Honestly, I think our next big goal is to release an original record and have our original material succeed, and maybe have a song on the radio that gets the word out about Pentatonix a little bit more.

Get the word out? How much more word is there to get out?

Grassi: Well, you know what I mean. There are so many different avenues that we can go down. Although we do have a big demographic and a huge fan base, I feel like there are still some areas that we could spread our music a little bit more.

I would love if this next year Pentatonix had the song of the summer.

Grassi: Oh, I would be obsessed with that.

In addition to Pentatonix, you're also in a duo called Superfruit, and your debut album is about a year and a half old or so.

Grassi: Yeah.

Tell me what's going on there.

Grassi: Well Scott [Hoying] and I have been discussing working on some more material for Superfruit, but obviously Pentatonix takes precedence.

Sure.

Grassi: We've been doing that for a couple of months, but new material for Superfruit has been in the works.

Okay, but you're not ready to give people anything or tell them when to expect it?

Grassi: No, because we don't have anything yet! But we're excited to make more music.

I did love that album. It was so much fun.

Grassi: Thank you!
