British musician Jake Edwin Charles Kennedy, more commonly known as Jake Bugg, was born in a musical family that had broken up at some point when Jake was very young.
He started playing the guitar at the age of 12, thanks to the inspiration given to him by his uncle.
He eventually enrolls in a music technology course from which he drops out, but at that point, they say that he was already writing his songs and performing them.
Jakes’s early career began when he got selected to perform at ‘’BBC Introducing’’ after which he had a chance to sign a contract with ‘’Mercury Records.’’
After his performance at ‘’BBC Introducing,’’ his songs started being listed on many different BBC radio playlists. In addition, one of his songs called ‘’Country Song’’ was used at some point by ‘’Greene King IPA’’ for their national beer commercial across Britain.
In 2012 Buggs managed to publish his first debut album ‘’Jake Bugg,’’ and the album was a massive success. One of the songs from the album charted on the 28th position in the chart and eventually claimed the top spot for itself in the UK charts.
The album managed to exceed half a million copies and sold somewhere close to 600 thousand copies!
Later in 2013, we find Buggs recording a new album in Malibu with Rick Rubin, Iain Archer, and Chad from the ‘’Red Hot Chili Peppers’’ and recording a new single named ‘’Broken’’ and after his 2nd album got released called ‘’Shangri La’’.
Sometime later, Jake performed on the Pyramid Stage, which made him the first artist who moved from the BBC Introducing Stage to the Pyramid stage in successive years.
He also performed later at different places in 2013: Splendour Festival (July 20), Osheaga Festival (2nd August), Reading and Leeds Festival (23-25 August), Fonda Theatre Hollywood(13 October), River Stage at Ottawa at Paleo Festival(October).
When he talked to the NME in 2016, Jake told them how his 3rd album is producing.
He also made a mention about that album that the songs are going to be much darker compared to what you are used to hearing from him.
During February, he releases a free of charge of a song called ‘’On my Own’’ which is then followed up by another called ‘’Gimme the Love.’’ After those two songs, he announces that he is going to release his new album ‘’On My One’’ and as a small present, he gave the artwork for the album and the music list of what’ going to be on the album and the last thing he would announce would be the tour dates.
A year later, in 2017, Jake released a brand new single ‘’ How Soon the Dawn’’ and later announced that he would be releasing a new album ‘’ Hearts That Strain’’ which he would release on the 1st of September 2017
And throughout the entirety of September, Bugg would tour and sing his album to support it and publicize it.
Bugg didn’t have a wrong career internationally. He didn’t blow up but, neither did he give up or fail.
There were rumors of how he almost quit singing due to his label contract issues at some point in his career.
Before he had made his albums with a 2nd person and one of his albums, he decided to work alone, and his label didn’t really like that idea.
He also stated how this rushing almost derailed him. Overall, his label was distracting him from expressing himself appropriately; then, he might as well quit.
But the label owners did allow him to express his creativity and trusted his judgment with the album though much later down the road, some more issues arose, and he ended the contract that he had with Virgin EMI.
His new label, which he has signed a brand new contract with is Sony RCA Records, which, as mentioned by some critiques, is relatively lucky since his popularity did start to decline. However, now he has the chance to relaunch his career with Andrew Watt, who is known as a fantastic producer.
Overall, Jake Bugg hopefully, with the help of Andrew Watt, will relaunch his career, and he will maybe, at some point, rise back up to the peak of his career.
